That is not a weakness. It is a sign that controlled environment agriculture is becoming part of the wider horticultural and food-production system rather than operating as an isolated category.
The first confirmed dates for 2027 already create a genuinely global route: France and Belgium in January, South Africa and Mexico in March, Dubai in April, Thailand and Japan in May, Korea and the Netherlands in June, Australia in July, Greece and China in the autumn, and New Zealand in November. The calendar includes English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and multilingual event sources wherever organizers have published them.
This is the early edition of the 2027 calendar. It contains events whose organizers have already published a 2027 date, plus a clearly separated watchlist for events that have confirmed a 2027 edition but have not yet released the date. It does not turn an expected annual event into a confirmed one simply because it happened in 2026.
This preliminary calendar is being published first on Vertical Farming Blog while the 2026 event season is still active. At the end of 2026, the verified 2027 event data will also be published on verticalfarmingevents.com, the dedicated events platform within our network. Until then, the blog is the clearer place to announce early dates without mixing a provisional 2027 planning list into the still-current 2026 calendar.
Why 2027 will be a convergence year
The distinction between a vertical farm, a high-tech greenhouse, a plant factory, and a smart protected-cropping operation is becoming less useful than it once was. The systems increasingly share the same suppliers and technical problems: LED lighting, HVAC and dehumidification, fertigation, water treatment, automation, sensors, robotics, crop models, energy management, substrates, food safety, and biological crop protection.
That is why this calendar is broader than a list of conferences with “vertical farming” in the title. Dedicated events remain the best places to meet the concentrated industry. But many of the technologies that determine whether an indoor farm performs commercially are developed, tested, and sold at adjacent horticulture and agricultural-technology events.
The useful question for 2027 is therefore not only “Is this a vertical farming event?” It is “Which part of a CEA operation can this event help improve?”
How events were selected
To keep the calendar useful, every event below is assigned one of three relevance levels. Scientific symposia and other research-focused meetings are not a separate tier: their format is already shown in the “Type” line for that entry, and their relevance level still follows the same three-way test.
Core Vertical Farming & CEA: The event is explicitly built around indoor farming, vertical farming, plant factories, or controlled environment agriculture.
Strong CEA Relevance: The event covers a broader protected-horticulture or facility-agriculture market, but its exhibitor or conference scope directly includes technologies used in vertical farms.
Related Industry Event: Vertical farming is not the central subject. The event is included because it covers a specific operational layer, such as hydroponics, substrates, crop modelling, IPM, automation, or horticultural supply chains, that directly affects CEA performance.
One event on this calendar does not fit any of the three tiers above: GREEN×EXPO 2027 is a six-month public horticultural expo, not a technical trade event, and it is included for strategic context rather than supplier or research content. It is labelled Context Event below, and it is the only entry that carries that label.
This distinction matters. A broad agriculture exhibition should not be presented as a vertical farming conference, but it may still be commercially valuable to a lighting manufacturer, irrigation supplier, automation company, researcher, or operator entering that region.

VertiFarm 2027 – IV International Workshop on Vertical Farming

GreenTech Americas 2027

GREEN×EXPO 2027

GREEN×EXPO 2027 is not a trade conference and should not be planned like one. It is a six-month international horticultural exhibition under the theme “Scenery of the Future for Happiness,” with a much broader public, cultural, environmental, and policy remit.
Its relevance to vertical farming lies in the surrounding conversation about future horticulture, urban development, resilience, biodiversity, and sustainable production systems. It may also turn into a venue for production technologies as national and corporate programmes are announced, but visitors should check the programme before assuming there will be a dedicated plant-factory component. For CEA professionals already travelling to Japan, it is best treated as a strategic context event rather than a supplier show. Indoor Ag-Con 2027

There is one essential calendar note: this is the postponed seventh edition originally promoted for September 2026, not a separate new edition following a completed 2026 show. For technology suppliers, project developers, investors, and growers targeting the Middle East, GVF offers a much more concentrated audience than a general agriculture show. As with any regional event, review current travel guidance and the organizer’s latest announcements before booking.
Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Convention 2027

Resource loops, energy and heat integration, co-products, automation, new ingredients, and investor interest cross these categories. The format is also important: DLG alternates the standalone convention with the larger Inhouse Farming show held alongside EuroTier. The organizer confirms that the 2027 edition returns as the Hamburg convention.

CEA & Indoor Farming 2027

With this calendar, the wrong strategy is to choose events by size alone. Start with the operational or commercial problem you need to solve.
If you are a vertical farm operator: VertiFarm, Indoor Ag-Con, GVF Dubai, and GreenTech Amsterdam offer the strongest combination of relevant peers, suppliers, and technical content. Add ISSCH if nutrient management and root-zone performance are current priorities.
If you are a greenhouse or CEA grower: GreenTech Americas, GreenSys, GreenTech Amsterdam, and Protected Cropping Australia provide the broadest protected-production perspective. The most efficient European trip is GreenSys in Wageningen followed by GreenTech Amsterdam.
If you are a technology supplier: Select the market before the event. Beijing and Smart Farm Korea open doors into Northeast Asian technology ecosystems; J-AGRI provides access to Japan; Horti & Agri Asia and HortEx support Southeast Asia; Agritec Africa provides a broad entry point to African buyers; and GreenTech Americas is the strongest confirmed Latin American CEA date.

Confirmed 2026 events that will not return in the same form in 2027
This section needs careful wording. A missing 2027 event page does not prove that an annual event has been cancelled. The entries below are included only where an organizer or official event cycle shows that the 2026 event will not be repeated in the same form during 2027.
GPEC – Greenhouse Horticulture & Plant Factory Exhibition
GPEC takes place in Tokyo in July 2026, but the official site identifies the next edition as summer 2028. There is therefore no GPEC edition scheduled for 2027. This is an event-cycle decision, not evidence that the event has ended.
International Horticultural Congress
IHC2026 will not return in 2027 because the congress operates on a four-year cycle. The next International Horticultural Congress is IHC2030 in Milan, scheduled for August 25–30, 2030.
Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Show at EuroTier
The large trade-show format returns alongside EuroTier in November 2026. It will not be repeated in that same format in 2027 because DLG alternates it with the smaller Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Convention. The 2027 convention is confirmed for April 21–22 in Hamburg and is included above.
7th Global Vertical Farming Show
The edition originally listed for September 2026 has been moved to April 6–7, 2027. It should not be counted once as a cancelled 2026 show and again as an unrelated new 2027 edition. It is the same seventh edition on a revised date.
Not cancelled, just not announced yet
As of August 25, 2026, no official 2027 date had been published for several familiar names from the 2026 calendar, including the JPFA International Symposium on Plant Factory, Taiwan Smart Agriweek, CEA Summit East, Vertical Farming World Congress, Canadian Greenhouse Conference, J-AGRI Tokyo, Saudi Agriculture, the World Intelligent Farming Summit, the AVF Asia Forum, AgriNext, and GreenTech North America.
That does not mean these events will not happen. It only means they should not yet be presented to readers as confirmed 2027 dates. This article will move them into the main calendar when their organizers publish official information.
