VerticalFarming.blog will be on site at J-AGRI Tokyo 2026 as press. The show runs from October 7 to 9, 2026 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. It is the 16th edition and the largest agricultural trade exhibition in Japan.
Why we are going to J-AGRI Tokyo 2026
J-AGRI covers agricultural machinery, drones, horticultural supply, AI and IoT solutions, and plant factories in one place. For a blog that follows controlled environment agriculture, that is a rare chance to meet many Japanese companies in three days instead of arranging each conversation separately.
The visit is part of our Japan CEA Watch 2026/27, a 12-month research effort following Japan’s CEA scene from September 2026 to September 2027. Our earlier work on Japan, including the Japan Plant Factory Standardization report, was written from a distance. J-AGRI lets us check what we wrote against what companies show and say in person.
What we hope to find
We will walk the halls, talk to exhibitors, and conduct interviews with companies and experts from the plant factory, horticulture, automation, and AI and IoT space. We are looking for suppliers of lighting, climate control, and growing systems, for people who can explain how Japanese plant factories work in practice, and for contacts we can follow up with during the research year. We go in with an open mind and will see what comes up.
Japan is also a useful reference for questions we have covered before, such as underground farms like the Kyuden headquarters farm in Fukuoka and Oishii Farms’ new R&D hub in Hamura City. If you are part of one of those stories, we would like to hear from you.
What happens after the show
We will report separately on what we learn at J-AGRI. We have not decided yet whether that means one article per show day or a single wrap-up after day three. We will see how many conversations we get and what is worth writing about.
Are you exhibiting or visiting?
If you work in vertical farming, plant factories, lighting, greenhouse technology, or related fields and will be at J-AGRI, we would be glad to meet you. A short conversation at your booth or a quick coffee between halls works just fine.
How to reach us
The easiest way is our contact form. Please tell us who you are, which booth or hall you are in, and when you are available. We read every message and will get back to you quickly.
